36 ENVIRONMENT Transpor t Our distribution sector involves transporting goods, which necessarily leads to direct impacts on the environment, in particular pollution and the consumption of natural resources. The first key indicator is the percentage of new vehicles in the heavy vehicle fleet that meet the least polluting standards. The target is to reach 68% of Euro 5 or 6 standards. Given the steady growth of the fleet in recent years, this target should be reached by 2023. The second indicator relates to the trend in the fuel consumption by the vehicles. In 2021, it was up 12% compared to 2020, a year marked by the lockdown, but down 6% compared to 2019. 3% of the heavy vehicle fleet in France has been replaced by new vehicles We regularly renew the fleet of heavy vehicles by choosing the most recent vehicle emission standards (Euro 5 and 6). This also applies to the fleet of light vehicles. They are renewed on average every three years, which means that they always benefit from the latest technology and constant progress in terms of fuel consumption. In addition, the vehicle list includes vehicles selected on the basis of their TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) - the overall cost of the vehicle throughout its life cycle, particularly in terms of CO2 emissions - as well as clean vehicles (hybrid, electric).
